Effective Date: March 31, 2025
Suppr is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Suppr (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and secures your information when you use our iMessage app (“the App”) to review and discuss movies and TV shows with other users in your iMessage conversations.
This Privacy Policy applies to all data collected through your use of the Suppr iMessage app, including user-submitted and automatically collected data, as well as derived data.
By using the App, you consent to the collection, use, disclosure, and processing of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.
We may modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Updated versions will be posted here. You should check back periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance.
- Critic Name: You provide a public-facing name (“Critic Name”) visible to participants in your iMessage conversations.
- Reviews and Interactions: You submit reviews, ratings, likes, dislikes, and comments on movies and shows.
- Comments and Likes/Dislikes: We store who liked or disliked a review and who commented (including usernames and content).
- User Preferences: We may derive interests or behavioral signals (e.g., frequent genres or rating tendencies) based on your usage patterns, to improve app functionality or prepare for future features.
- Device Info: We collect data such as device type, OS version, and unique identifiers used to associate data with your Apple ID via CloudKit.
- Conversation Metadata: We use stable identifiers generated from your iMessage chat participants (including your Apple-assigned UUIDs) to group reviews by conversation.
- Usage Events: We may collect anonymized logs such as view events, errors, or interactions (e.g., pressing “Submit Review”) to help improve app performance.
- UserProfile Metadata: This includes your Critic Name and any reviews associated with your device UUID or group UUID.
- Chat Metadata: We store which GroupID is tied to each unique chat to enable synchronization and consolidation across users.
We use your information to:
- Provide core app functionality
- Link reviews with your iMessage group participants
- Display your content to other participants in the same conversation
- Let you like, dislike, or comment on reviews
- Associate your activity with your device and the relevant iMessage conversation to ensure your reviews are visible to the appropriate participants
- Consolidate metadata when duplicate chat records are detected
- Improve app performance and identify bugs
- Provide diagnostic and support functionality (e.g., internal logs)
- Comply with legal obligations
Your reviews, critic name, comments, likes, and dislikes are shared with Suppr users in your iMessage conversations. This information may be visible in the context of the app for each specific chat group.
Suppr uses CloudKit to store and synchronize data. Your information is stored in your private and shared CloudKit databases, tied to your Apple ID. Apple acts as a data processor for Suppr under their own privacy policies.
We may disclose personal data where legally required or to enforce our rights or protect the security and integrity of the App.
We retain data as long as it’s necessary to provide the service, or as required by law. Data such as reviews and GroupIDs may remain stored in CloudKit until deleted.
You can delete the App from your device, but your data may persist unless and until you explicitly delete it via Apple’s iCloud data management tools.
To ensure consistency across devices and users in the same iMessage conversation, we use identifiers derived from your conversations to group and synchronize reviews. If duplicate or conflicting identifiers are detected (e.g., when a group chat changes participants), we may automatically merge them to reflect a consistent group view for all participants. This helps ensure that everyone in the same conversation sees a unified set of reviews.
- CloudKit (Apple) – used for data storage and user authentication
- The Movie Database (TMDB) – used to fetch movie and TV metadata (titles, posters, etc.). We do not send user data to TMDB.
Suppr does not include third-party advertising, analytics SDKs, or trackers.
Suppr does not use cookies or web trackers. The app does not employ device fingerprinting, session replay, or cross-site tracking technologies.
We implement security measures to protect your data in CloudKit. However, no system is 100% secure. We recommend protecting your Apple ID and device passcode, as these are the primary gatekeepers of your data.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccuracies
- Request deletion
- Object to processing
- Export your data
To make requests, email clayton@suppr.xyz or use Apple’s privacy tools for iCloud-related data.
All data is stored and processed via Apple CloudKit, typically in Apple’s U.S.-based data centers. By using the App, you consent to data transfer to the U.S. and potentially other countries.
Suppr is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete the data promptly.
